A shopper asks Perplexity where to buy a hair loss treatment. The answer names two brands, then sends the shopper to a pharmacy chain and a marketplace. Your brand is sold at both. It is not in the answer.
That is the part of an AI answer nobody measures. Brand tracking tells you whether you are named. It does not tell you where AI sends the buyer, or whether your brand is on the shelf when it does.
What does the retailers view show?
The Retailers page answers one question: where does AI send your buyers, and are you there when it does?
Four numbers at the top. How many retailers are cited, the share of answers that cite at least one retailer, how often your brand is cited in those answers against your average, and how many answers cite your own site.
Retailers by engine. A heatmap with every retailer in a row and every engine in a column, counting the answers that cite it, with your brand as a reference. You see at a glance which engine leans on which store.
The retailer ranking. Every retailer, from the most cited down, with the number of answers that cite it and your brand's rate in those answers. A gap against your average is shown in points, so a store where you are under-represented stands out.
By question category. For each category of your questions, how often a retailer is cited and how often your brand is cited with it. Some categories send buyers to stores far more than others.
Filters by period and by engine apply to everything, and a search finds a retailer by name.
What is on a retailer's page?
Open a retailer and you see it the way AI uses it.
Its numbers. The answers that cite it, your brand's rate in those answers, the engines and the questions involved, answers over time and answers by engine.
The brands recommended with it. Every brand cited in the same answers, with the share of the retailer's answers that cite it. These are the co-citations: the brands AI puts on that store's shelf, yours included.
The products sold there. The products whose shopping card points to this retailer.
Its pages that AI cites. Each page of the retailer that AI relies on, labelled as your product page at that retailer, a competitor's page, or a page without a brand. For each one, how often your brand is cited in the answers that use it.
How does Mentionable find retailers in AI answers?
On an e-commerce project, Mentionable sorts every name cited in your answers into three groups: competitors, retailers and products. Stores, pharmacies, marketplaces and online shops go to the retailers view instead of filling your competitor list.
A product card that names a store is the strongest signal: the merchant of a shopping card becomes a retailer straight away, without waiting for more answers.
You keep the last word. A retailer that is really a competing brand can be turned back into a competitor. A name that has nothing to do there can be excluded, and it does not come back with the next scans. A decision you make is never undone by the automatic sorting.
Why does the retailer matter as much as the brand?
Because the retailer is where the sale happens, and AI often chooses it for the shopper.
A brand can be well cited overall and absent from the answers that send buyers to its biggest retailer. On those answers, AI is recommending other brands to a shopper who is ready to buy, in a store that may stock your products. The ranking makes that visible: a retailer far below your average is a channel to work on, with the retailer's own pages and the co-cited brands telling you what AI reads there.
Can my own AI read retailer data?
Yes, through the Mentionable MCP server: your own AI can list the retailers of a project and open any one of them, with the same numbers, co-cited brands and pages as the app. The AI assistant in your dashboard reads them too. The MCP server is included in the plans that offer it.
How do I turn on the retailers view?
The retailers view is part of the e-commerce mode of a project, the same switch as the products view.
When you create a project, Mentionable reads your site and pre-ticks Do you sell products online? if it looks like an online store. You can change it at any time in the project settings, under Online store. Turning it on re-sorts the names already found, so retailers leave your competitor list.
Retailers then appears in your navigation, under Measure, as soon as a first store is found in your answers.
Which plans include the retailers view?
Every offer, and the 7-day free trial. Retailers are read from the scans of your tracked questions, so there is nothing extra to run.
