Your brand comes up first when someone in France asks ChatGPT for a recommendation. Your team is pleased. Then someone in your German office asks the same question, in German, and gets a local competitor you have never heard of. Your brand is not in the answer.
A single visibility number, averaged over every country, would have told you everything was fine.
Why does AI visibility change from one country to another?
Because AI engines answer with what they find, and they search from where the question comes from.
When an engine runs a web search before answering, it runs it in the country of the person asking, in their language. It finds local review sites, local press, local comparison pages. It trusts the sources that matter there. And it names the brands those sources name, which are often not the same from one country to the next.
The question your customers type is the same. The answer they read is not.
How does Mentionable track visibility by country?
In Mentionable, every question you track belongs to one country.
Each day, the question is asked from that country to each AI engine you track. The results are stored under that country: whether you are cited, at what rank, next to which competitors, on the strength of which sources. Tracking the same question in three countries gives you three separate lines, with three separate histories.
Each country also carries its language. Questions generated for Germany are written in German, questions for Spain in Spanish, because that is how people there ask them.
Where do you choose your countries?
In your brand profile, under My brand. You list the countries you sell in, each with its language, one of them marked as your main country. The main one comes first everywhere in the app.
You do not start from a blank page. When you create your brand, Mentionable reads your site and proposes your main country. You confirm it or change it.
When you add a country later, Mentionable offers to generate questions for it straight away, in its language, and your content strategy can be updated to cover it.
What changes in the app when you track several countries?
From two countries, a country selector appears in the sidebar of your brand space.
Pick a country and the page you are on shows only that country: your dashboard, your tracked questions, your competitors, the sources the engines cite, the searches they run before answering, your action plan. Move to another page and the country follows. Mentionable remembers your last choice for each site, and the country sits in the address, so a link you share opens the same view for your colleague.

How many countries does each offer include?
Each brand offer includes a number of countries:
| Offer | Countries |
|---|---|
| Presence | 1 |
| Influence | 2 |
| Reference | 3 |
The 7-day free trial runs on Presence. Beyond Reference, or for several brands, the custom plan is set up with you.
Two things to know before adding a country:
- Your questions are shared, not multiplied. Your offer gives you a number of questions for the whole brand. A new country uses the same allowance, so you spread your questions over more places rather than getting new ones.
- Your articles are shared too. The articles of the month belong to your account, whatever the country they are written for.
When you reach the limit, Mentionable tells you which offer covers one more country. You can also remove a country to open another one.
What happens to a country you remove?
Its questions are paused, never deleted. Their history stays in place, and putting the country back lets you reactivate them.
The same rule applies when you move to an offer with fewer countries: at renewal, the countries beyond the new limit are paused, not erased.
And for agencies?
Agency plans do not cap the number of countries. Each client site is tracked in the countries that matter to that client: every question carries its country, the list of tracked questions shows it as soon as there are several, and the AI searches page filters by country.
Which engines are tracked in each country?
The same ones everywhere: the AI engines you selected for your project, among ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overview and Claude. See multi-LLM tracking for how each engine is read.
