get_product

get_product MCP tool: detail of one product on an e-commerce project, with the raw names engines used, engines, prompts, and the retailers, prices and rating seen on product cards. Inputs, response shape, JSON example.

Updated 2026-10-09

get_product returns the detail of one product of an e-commerce project: the raw names AI engines used for it, the engines and prompts where it is cited, and what the product cards showed (retailers, prices, rating).

Product cards are the structured shopping blocks some engines display next to their answer. Only Copilot and ChatGPT shopping return them, so retailers, prices and rating come from those two engines.

When to use

Call it after list_products, with a product id, to answer "on which questions is this product recommended, and where do engines send buyers to get it?". The aliases list shows every way engines named the product; their ids feed split_product when two different products ended up under one name.

Input

Field Type Default Description
projectId string (CUID) required Project to query.
productId string (CUID) required Product id from list_products.
filters.dateRange { from?, to? } (ISO date or datetime) all time Answers of this period only. Does not apply to aliases.
filters.llms array of LLM keys all engines Answers of these engines only. Does not apply to aliases.
include.sources boolean false Add the sources cited when the AI names the product.
include.excerpts boolean false Add the latest answers naming the product: the sentence, its rank, the other products cited with it.
include.progression boolean false Add the answers citing the product, per day.

Fields:

  • product: same fields as a list_products row, without the counts. competitorId: null means your own brand. category is the product category, null until the AI sorts it.
  • responses: distinct answers citing the product in the window. mentionRate: their whole % of all the window's answers, or null when the window has no answer.
  • aliases: raw names engines used for the product, all time, most mentioned first (100 at most). mentions counts every mention under that name.
  • byLlm: distinct answers citing the product, per engine.
  • prompts: the 20 prompts where the product is cited most, with the engines.
  • retailers: from product cards only. The store domain when the card links to it (Copilot), the merchant name otherwise (ChatGPT shopping). 20 at most.
  • prices: prices as displayed on the cards, most frequent first. Formats and currencies vary by engine.
  • rating: average rating and highest review count seen on the cards, or null when no card had a rating.
  • sources: the pages the AI relies on when it names the product, most used first (30 at most). Same rule as for competitors: the source backs a passage of the answer that names the product. When the passage lists several products, each one gets the source. responses counts the answers where it does.
  • excerpts: the 10 latest answers naming the product. excerpt is the line of the answer that names it, null when the name only appears in a product card. position is its rank in the answer when the engine orders it. alongside lists the other products of the same answer (brand: null = yours).
  • progression: distinct answers citing the product, per day.

Error: product_not_found (unknown id, another project, or a project not in e-commerce mode).

Tips and patterns

  • A competitor product with many retailers and a high rating is the one engines can recommend with confidence. Check whether your equivalent range has cards at all.
  • To learn why a competitor product gets cited, ask for include.sources on it and on yours: the pages it has and you lack are where to get your product listed or reviewed.
  • include.excerpts shows how the AI talks about the product and against which rivals, without pulling full answers.
  • Two clearly different products among aliases (a refill pack and a starter kit, for example)? Move one with split_product.
  • To place the product against its rivals of the same category, call get_product_share_of_voice with its category.
  • Combine prompts with get_recommendation on the same prompt to see what would get your product cited there.
